Benjamin Bonzi defeats Alex Molčan at US Open

Slovak tennis player Alex Molčan was eliminated in the first round of the US Open by France's Benjamin Bonzi. The match, which lasted two hours and 22 minutes, concluded with a score of 4:6, 6:3, 3:6, and 2:6.

The contest faced a delay due to rain during the first set while Molčan held a 2:1 lead. Following the restart, Bonzi secured three consecutive games to take the set. Despite Molčan winning the second set 6:3, Bonzi dominated the third and fourth sets to advance to the second round.

Molčan was the only Slovak representative competing in the singles draw at this tournament. Bonzi is scheduled to face the winner of the match between Marcos Giron and Ignatasia Buse in the next round.
