Benjamin Evan Ainsworth gives rare update on upcoming Legend of Zelda movie

Actor Benjamin Evan Ainsworth, who portrays Link in the live‑action Legend of Zelda film, spoke to media about the project, saying he cannot reveal many details but praised the scale and talent involved. He noted the production’s high level of detail, from costumes to set design, and expressed excitement for audiences.

Filming took place in Otago, New Zealand, from November 2025 to April 2026 under director Wes Ball, with Bo Bragason cast as Princess Zelda. The movie is slated for a worldwide theatrical release in May 2027. Ainsworth, born in 2008, recalled being nine years old when Nintendo released Breath of the Wild in 2017, explaining he was too young to play it at the time.
