Benjamin Kalu launches solar lighting project in Abia State

Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, has flagged off the Renewed Hope Light Up Project in the Bende Federal Constituency of Abia State. The initiative aims to provide solar-powered lights to 42,000 households across 13 electoral wards to combat local energy shortages.

As part of the project, Kalu distributed 26 power transformers to connect various wards to the national electricity grid. The solar lighting component, which is described as the second phase of the project, includes installations that will be geo-located and monitored via mobile technology with a 10-year guarantee.

Kalu stated that the project aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s eight-point Renewed Hope Agenda, which focuses on improving economic life, security, and human capacity development starting at the community level. Additionally, Kalu noted that President Tinubu has approved the provision of 500,000 solar lights for rural households across the broader South-East region of Nigeria.
