Benjamin Kalu urges South-East youths to support Tinubu in 2027

Benjamin Kalu, the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, has called on youths in Nigeria’s South-East region to promote national integration and mobilize support for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election in 2027.

Speaking to leaders of the Advisory Council of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) at his home in Bende, Abia State, Kalu emphasized that integration requires proactive engagement with other regions rather than waiting for acceptance. He suggested that fostering hospitality toward Nigerians from different ethnic and regional backgrounds would help correct negative perceptions of the Igbo people and move away from associations with violence.

Kalu noted that political participation is essential for the region to negotiate for infrastructure, appointments, and development. He encouraged the South-East to reciprocate President Tinubu’s support for the region, despite the low electoral support the President received from the area during the 2023 election.
