Benjamin Ličer performs aerobatic flight under Solkan Railway Bridge

To mark the 120th anniversary of the Bohinj Railway, aerobatic pilot Benjamin Ličer performed a flight under the arch of the Solkan Railway Bridge. The event was organized by the Portorož Coastal Aviation Center in collaboration with the Municipality of Nova Gorica.

Ličer, a multi-time national aerobatic champion, has a long history with this landmark, having completed the first post-war flight under the bridge in 1999. He has repeated the feat during significant anniversaries in 2006, 2009, and 2019. During the maneuver, the aircraft reaches speeds between 206 and 300 kilometers per hour, requiring precise navigation due to the limited clearance between the wingtips and the bridge structure.

The Solkan Railway Bridge is a major technical monument in Slovenia, featuring the world’s largest stone arch on a railway bridge with a span of 85 meters. Built between 1904 and 1906, the bridge serves as a significant historical and engineering landmark.
