Netanyahu faces warnings over October 7 attacks and vows to stop Iran's nuclear program
Investigations by Haaretz and other reports indicate that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was warned of the Hamas attacks on October 7, 2023, approximately ten days before they occurred. Specifically, UAE President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan reportedly held a 45-minute telephone conversation with Netanyahu in late September, warning of a major operation by Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar that could destabilize the region and threaten the Abraham Accords.
Netanyahu's office has rejected these claims. Other reports suggest warnings were also provided by Egyptian intelligence and the head of Shin Bet.
Separately, Netanyahu has issued a warning regarding Iran's nuclear ambitions. In a message recorded at the Western Wall, he stated that Iran is attempting to rebuild its nuclear capabilities following Israeli military operations in 2025. Netanyahu pledged that Israel would take all necessary actions to prevent Tehran from obtaining a nuclear weapon, while also asserting that Israeli military actions in Gaza and Lebanon have significantly weakened the so-called 'Iranian axis'.
