Benjamin Nnayerugo claims accidental stabbing in Augusta Onuwabhagbe murder trial

Benjamin Nnayerugo, known as Killaboi, testified at the Lagos State High Court regarding the death of his girlfriend, Augusta Onuwabhagbe. Nnayerugo, who is standing trial for her alleged murder, claimed that he accidentally stabbed the 21-year-old undergraduate in the stomach during a struggle for a steak knife.

According to his testimony, the incident followed an argument triggered by messages Nnayerugo discovered on Onuwabhagbe’s phone. He alleged that the messages suggested she was arranging an intimacy encounter with another man for N1.5 million. Nnayerugo stated that after he insulted the deceased’s mother during the dispute, Onuwabhagbe threatened him with a knife and allegedly stabbed him in the hands twice. He claimed the struggle ended when she fell to the floor with a stomach wound.

Onuwabhagbe, an online influencer, was found dead in Nnayerugo’s apartment in Ajah, Lagos, on July 15, 2023. Nnayerugo has pleaded not guilty to the two-count charge.
