Benjamin Nygren returns to Celtic early due to illness

Celtic midfielder Benjamin Nygren is returning to Glasgow early after being struck by a sickness bug while on international duty with Sweden. The illness forced Nygren to miss Sweden’s Nations League draw against Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Nygren was placed in isolation alongside teammates Yasin Ayari and former Celtic defender Gustaf Lagerbielke. The Swedish Football Association confirmed that Nygren will not recover in time for Sweden’s upcoming match against Romania.

Nygren is expected to focus on his recovery ahead of Celtic’s return to Scottish Premiership action against Motherwell. While Sebastian Tounekti is also returning to Glasgow early following the cancellation of Tunisia’s friendly against Mali, his return is not related to illness.
