Benjamin Scerra murder case in Buenos Aires sees new revenge hypothesis

Prosecutors in Buenos Aires have added a revenge motive to the investigation of the May killing of 19‑year‑old Benjamin Scerra. The hypothesis links Scerra’s death to the September 2024 homicide of Antonio "Tofu" Hereñú, a family member of the accused Hereñú clan.

According to prosecutor Aquiles Balbis, testimony from Ailén, partner of suspect Alexis Hereñú, suggests that discussions among the group after the earlier murder sparked a plan to attack Scerra when he left the scene. The four Hereñú brothers—Alexis, Darío, Fabiana and Luciano—remain in preventive detention while authorities continue to probe the circumstances and the extent of the violence involved.
