Benjamin Sesko withdraws from Slovenia squad due to injury
Manchester United striker Benjamin Sesko has withdrawn from the Slovenia national team due to a recurring shin injury. The 23-year-old, who joined from RB Leipzig, has struggled with the same issue that disrupted his pre-season and late last season.
Following his absence from Manchester United’s recent match against Fulham, manager Michael Carrick confirmed that Sesko would undergo medical assessments to determine a recovery plan. The injury has sparked debate among club legends; Paul Scholes and Nicky Butt questioned the nature of the injury, with Scholes suggesting the player simply use shin pads. Conversely, Wayne Rooney advised the striker to be more ruthless and battle through the pain to secure his place in the squad.
Sesko released a statement via Instagram expressing his regret over missing the Nations League fixtures for Slovenia, stating he is fully dedicated to his recovery so he can return to both club and country as soon as possible.
