BENJYFISHY discusses Team Heretics' performance and 2027 VCT changes

Valorant professional Benjy ‘BENJYFISHY’ Fish has reflected on a challenging 2026 season for Team Heretics and expressed optimism regarding upcoming structural changes to the Valorant Champions Tour (VCT).

Despite winning VCT EMEA Stage 1 in 2026, Team Heretics failed to defend their Esports World Cup title and missed qualification for Valorant Champions Shanghai. Fish attributed the team's decline to mental struggles and performances that fell below their established standards.

Looking toward 2027, the VCT ecosystem will introduce open qualifying tournaments for major events, including Masters and cups. This new format will allow four teams from open qualifiers to join the eight existing partner teams. Fish noted that this shift will increase visibility for Tier 2 and unknown players, potentially leading to more competitive upsets and providing new opportunities for rising talent.
