Benkovac hosts 'Nosi se' festival focusing on humanism and capitalism
The 'Nosi se' festival has commenced in Benkovac, Croatia, focusing on the theme of 'the state of humanism under conditions of capitalism.' This year's edition aims for a peaceful reintegration into the local cultural space, following last year's event which was marked by protests from veterans' associations regarding controversial programming.
The festival's program includes performances by Teatar VeRRdi and discussions featuring Snježana Banović and Katarina Peović. Artistic director Juraj Aras noted that the festival seeks to create a space for cognitive exercise and the exchange of opinions through its 'Discursive Relay' format. While the program is smaller than in previous years due to past difficulties, organizers maintain that culture must serve as a corrective to society.
