Benny Blanco discusses relationship with Selena Gomez

Record producer Benny Blanco has shared details regarding his relationship with singer Selena Gomez, including his personal criteria for a partner and his mother's early predictions about the couple.

Speaking on the SmartLess podcast, Blanco revealed that his mother had suggested years ago that he should date someone like Gomez, a comment he initially found confusing as he was dating someone else at the time.

In an interview on the Open Book with Jenna Bush Hager, Blanco described the qualities he sought in a partner, such as being over the age of 30, having a positive disposition, and being kind and compassionate. He emphasized the importance of dating a woman with her own career and passions. Blanco noted that Gomez fits these criteria and expressed admiration for her independence.

The couple, who began dating in July 2023 and became engaged in 2024, were married on September 27, 2025.
