Beno Obano to join Section Paloise from Bath Rugby

English international tighthead prop Beno Obano has agreed to join Section Paloise in the French Top 14. The 31-year-old, currently playing for Bath, will sign a two-season contract starting in the summer of 2027.

Obano chose Pau over Union Bordeaux-Bègles (UBB), despite having recently visited Bordeaux's facilities. UBB had identified Obano as a potential successor to Jefferson Poirot, but Pau successfully secured his agreement. Following this decision, UBB is expected to explore other options, including David Ainu’u or Ntuthuko Mchunu.

Obano has spent his professional career in England and is approaching 200 appearances for Bath. While his move to France will make him ineligible for England selection, his recent return to the national squad highlights his current form.
