Benoit Cosnefroy wins Coppa Sabatini after late attack
Benoit Cosnefroy of UAE Team Emirates won the 74th edition of the Coppa Sabatini in Peccioli, securing his fifth victory of the season. The French rider delivered a decisive attack approximately 200 meters from the finish line on a steep 10.5% gradient to overtake Giulio Pellizzari.
Pellizzari, representing Red Bull–BORA–hansgrohe, had been a dominant force throughout the race. Following his victory at the Giro della Toscana 24 hours earlier, he attacked the peloton 25 kilometers from the finish and successfully linked up with a breakaway group. Despite maintaining a lead until the final 100 meters, Pellizzari was unable to hold off Cosnefroy’s late surge.
The race featured several key tactical shifts, including the neutralization of an early breakaway and a crash involving Aleksandr Vlasov 30 kilometers from the end. The final podium was completed by Clement Venturini in second place and Romain Gregoire in third.
