BenQ launches new generation of sustainable SSI business projectors
BenQ has launched a new generation of business projectors utilizing Solid State Illumination (SSI) technology, transitioning from traditional mercury-based lamps to more sustainable laser and LED alternatives. The new product lineup, which includes models LH740, LH660, LH655/C, LW655/C, and LW555C, is designed for meeting rooms of various sizes with light outputs ranging from 4,000 to 5,000 ANSI lumens.
This shift aligns with upcoming European regulations, as the EU exemption for mercury-containing projector lamps is set to expire in February 2027. Following this deadline, manufacturers will no longer be permitted to market projectors using such lamps within the EU.
The SSI-based projectors offer several operational advantages, including lifespans of up to 30,000 hours, reduced maintenance requirements, and immediate readiness without warm-up or cool-down phases. These models also support LAN-control for easier integration into corporate networks and offer optional wireless casting capabilities via the QP30 dongle.
