Bentley completes 1,000,000 km of testing for first electric vehicle

Bentley has announced the completion of over 1,000,000 kilometers of testing for the Torcal, the automaker’s first fully electric vehicle. The testing program involved extreme environmental conditions, ranging from -38°C in Sweden to over 40°C in desert climates, as well as high-altitude runs exceeding 14,000 feet at Pikes Peak.

The development process utilized Extended Reality (XR) to create digital cabin simulations, allowing engineers to evaluate ergonomics before physical parts were manufactured. The vehicle features an 800-volt electrical architecture and a 113 kWh battery pack, which supports ultra-fast charging of up to 400 kW. The battery is protected by a composite impact shield designed to withstand underside blows and high-velocity object projections.

Bentley has also introduced a First Edition launch model for the Torcal. This high-performance version produces approximately 875 to 888 horsepower and 1,350 Nm of torque, enabling a 0 to 100 km/h acceleration in 2.9 seconds. The First Edition includes exclusive luxury features such as 22-inch wheels, carbon fiber accents, and a Naim audio system with 28 speakers.
