Bentley Motors appoints T. Jon Mayer as Head of Exterior Design

Bentley Motors has appointed T. Jon Mayer as the new Head of Exterior Design and Design Operations, effective immediately. Mayer succeeds Domen Rucigaj, who has transitioned to a new role within the Volkswagen Group.

Mayer joins Bentley following a 13-year tenure at Volvo Cars, where he held senior leadership positions and contributed to the design of models such as the S60, V60, EX60, and EX30. His work at Volvo included helping develop the brand’s recognizable ‘Thor’s Hammer’ headlight signature.

In his new capacity at Bentley, Mayer will lead a multidisciplinary team of 45 people. He is tasked with shaping the creative vision and design language for the brand’s next generation of luxury vehicles. This includes overseeing the development of the upcoming Bentley Torcal and guiding the brand’s transition toward electrification as part of its Beyond100+ strategy. His responsibilities also encompass design operations, including digital modeling and virtual development.
