Bentley Motors unveils sustainable materials for Torcal EV and Bentayga X Concept
Bentley Motors has unveiled new luxury and design directions for its upcoming vehicle lineup, focusing on sustainable materials and enhanced off-road capabilities.
For its first 100% electric vehicle (BEV), the urban luxury SUV Torcal, Bentley is introducing industry-first interior materials. In collaboration with British textile manufacturer Fox Brothers, the company has developed a 100% merino wool fabric that meets rigorous automotive durability and flame-retardant standards. This material has also achieved the Responsible Wool Standard (RWS) certification.
Additionally, Bentley has introduced ‘Ombre Veneer,’ a new decorative wood technology. This process involves layering up to 1,000 layers of recycled paper and walnut wood scraps, which are then sliced to less than 1mm to create a seamless color gradient.
Separately, Bentley showcased the Bentayga X Concept, a vehicle designed to test enhanced off-road performance. Based on the Bentayga Speed, the concept features a widened track, increased ride height, and specialized 22-inch wheels. It is equipped for rugged use with a wading depth of over 550 mm and roof-mounted storage solutions.
