Bentley reveals sustainable interior materials for first electric SUV Torcal

Bentley has unveiled details regarding the interior of its first fully electric SUV, the Torcal, which is scheduled for its world premiere in London on September 23. The luxury manufacturer is introducing several innovative and sustainable materials to its cabin to signal a shift toward electric mobility while maintaining high-end craftsmanship.

A primary highlight is the use of 100% merino wool, a first for the automotive industry. Developed in collaboration with British textile manufacturer Fox Brothers, this specialized wool flannel is designed to meet strict durability standards for automotive seating and has received certification from the Responsible Wool Standard (RWS). The material will be available in six color combinations.

Additionally, the Torcal will feature ‘Ombre Veneer,’ a decorative trim created by compressing up to 1,000 layers of sustainably sourced walnut scraps and recycled paper into a single sheet, which is then sliced to less than 1mm. The interior will also include ‘Sunburst Aluminum’ by Mulliner, a modern reinterpretation of traditional engine-turned finishes. These material choices aim to move the brand away from traditional leather-and-plastic combinations toward a new definition of sustainable luxury.
