Bentley unveils Torcal, its first all-electric luxury SUV
Bentley Motors has unveiled the Torcal in London, marking the brand’s first fully electric SUV in its 107-year history. Developed and manufactured at its Crewe plant, the Torcal serves as a blueprint for the company’s future electric models.
The vehicle will launch in two versions: a base model and a high-performance S-model. The Torcal S is described as the strongest production Bentley to date, producing 888 PS (653 kW) and 1,350 Nm of torque, enabling a 0–100 km/h acceleration in 2.9 seconds. Both versions utilize dual permanent magnet synchronous motors and an 800-volt architecture, offering a WLTP range of up to 600 km and support for up to 400 kW charging.
Key technological features include a fully active suspension system with adaptive dual-valve dampers and all-wheel steering. To enhance the luxury experience, Bentley introduced the ‘Bentley Dynamic Symphony,’ an acoustic soundtrack composed with real musical instruments like drums and violins to mimic a V8 engine's character. The interior features innovative Mulliner veneers made from over 1,000 layers of walnut wood scraps and recycled paper.
