Bentley unveils Torcal, its first all-electric luxury SUV

Bentley has unveiled the Torcal, its first fully electric production model, marking a significant strategic shift for the luxury automaker. The new SUV is positioned as a more accessible entry point for the brand, with an estimated starting price of approximately £173,300 ($218,000) in the United States, aimed at attracting younger buyers and new customers.

The Torcal is available in two performance trims. The standard version produces up to 821 horsepower, while the Torcal S is the most powerful production Bentley to date, delivering 888 horsepower and 1,350 Nm of torque. Both versions utilize a 113.2 kWh battery pack and an 800-volt architecture, supporting DC fast charging of up to 400 kW. This allows for a 10% to 80% charge in roughly 16 minutes.

Design-wise, the Torcal introduces a new visual language that balances traditional Bentley elements, such as the signature grille and muscular rear haunches, with modern, cleaner surfaces. Notably, Bentley has opted to eschew dedicated passenger-side displays in favor of traditional luxury materials like wood to prioritize passenger comfort and avoid technological clutter. The vehicle is built on the Volkswagen Group’s Premium Platform Electric architecture.
