Benue State approves N294.53m for 2026 malaria campaign

The Benue State Government has approved N294.53 million in counterpart funding for the 2026 Seasonal Malaria Chemoprevention (SMC) campaign. The initiative will cover all 23 local government areas within the state.

According to officials, the funding is intended to strengthen preventive healthcare efforts, particularly for children, women, and other vulnerable groups during the rainy season when malaria prevalence typically rises. This state investment is designed to complement financial, technical, and implementation support provided by the development partner, PATH, to ensure the sustainability and ownership of the program.

Health officials emphasized that the success of the campaign relies on the professionalism and accountability of healthcare workers and volunteers to ensure resources and medicines reach their intended recipients.
