Benue State PDP demands accountability over N30bn monthly federal allocations

The Benue State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is demanding accountability from Governor Hyacinth Alia following revelations by Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike regarding state allocations. Wike stated that Benue State now receives between N25 billion and N30 billion monthly from the Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC), a significant increase from previous years when allocations ranged between N1.5 billion and N4 billion.

The PDP has questioned the lack of visible development despite these increased funds, citing the collapse of hospitals, schools, and agricultural programs, as well as unfinished road projects. The party has called on the governor to clarify whether he disputes these figures or to explain how the massive sums are being utilized.

In a separate political context, Wike has also intensified his criticism of political figures Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi, labeling them as individuals without a genuine vision for the country. He cautioned stakeholders against trusting their political future to what he described as “political gamblers” during a townhall meeting in Rivers State aimed at supporting President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid.
