Benue State: Suspected herdsmen kill at least nine in Ukum attacks

Suspected armed herdsmen launched attacks on several communities in the Ukum Local Government Area of Benue State on a Friday night. The violence targeted areas including Tse-Nyaku, Tse-Biliji, and other communities within the Mbatian and Mbazum districts.

Reports indicate that at least nine people have been killed, though some sources noted that only six bodies had been recovered at the time of reporting. Several residents remain missing, leading to concerns that the death toll may rise. The attacks caused widespread panic, forcing many residents to flee their homes and leaving some communities deserted.

The Benue State Police Command stated it had not yet received an official report regarding the incident from security personnel on the ground. Local political figures have described the violence as a continuation of ongoing insecurity in the region.
