BeOne Medicines appoints José María Pons as Iberia General Manager

BeOne Medicines has appointed José María ‘Chema’ Pons as the new General Manager for Iberia. In this role, Pons will lead the company’s operations across Spain and Portugal, reporting to Giancarlo Benelli, the Senior Vice President and Head of Europe for BeOne Medicines.

Pons brings over 15 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry to the position. He previously led the Hematology Business Unit for Novartis in Spain, where he served on the company’s Steering Committee and managed portfolios covering both high-prevalence diseases and rare pathologies. His professional background also includes leadership roles at Amgen and Novartis, focusing on multidisciplinary team management and the launch of new therapies.

Giancarlo Benelli noted that Pons’ expertise in hematology and organizational transformation will support the company’s growth in the Iberian region. Pons stated his intention to drive innovation and expand the company’s impact, specifically aiming to increase access to cancer treatments through their developments.
