Beppe Angiolini, founder of Sugar concept store, dies at 73
Giuseppe Beppe Angiolini, the influential Italian fashion entrepreneur known as ‘Sugar’, has died at the age of 73 following a long illness. He passed away at his home in Arezzo, Italy.
Angiolini founded the Sugar multi-brand concept store in 1978, evolving it from a small boutique into an internationally recognized destination for avant-garde fashion, art, and design. In 2018, the brand relocated to the historic Palazzo Lambardi in Arezzo, a project that integrated fashion with hospitality through the Sugar Rooms boutique hotel and the No Sugar Please bar.
A prominent figure in the Italian retail sector, Angiolini served as president of Camera Buyer Italia between 2008 and 2014, and later as its honorary president. He also held the role of artistic director for the Oro Arezzo jewelry trade show. Beyond his professional achievements, he was a dedicated supporter of his hometown and the local football club, Arezzo Calcio.
