Beppe Grillo denies founding a new political party
Beppe Grillo, co-founder of the Movimento 5 Stelle (M5S), has dismissed rumors regarding the creation of a new political party. During an appearance on the ‘Pulp Podcast’ hosted by Fedez and Mr. Marra, Grillo stated that he lacks the power and organizational capacity to found a new movement, though he remains open to providing ideas on topics such as the environment, religion, and the economy.
Grillo expressed significant criticism of the current state of the M5S, claiming he has been “estromesso” (sidelined) and that the movement is no longer the entity he and Gianroberto Casaleggio originally envisioned. He described the modern party as a “normal party” and criticized its current leadership, suggesting that Giuseppe Conte should perhaps establish his own distinct political symbol.
Additionally, Grillo touched upon personal matters, discussing his son Ciro’s decision to study law to defend himself amidst ongoing legal challenges. He also commented on the impact of technology and artificial intelligence on modern democracy, characterizing current political institutions as being stuck in a “Paleolithic” era.
