Beppe Grillo returns to Rome amid M5S tensions
Beppe Grillo, the founder of the Movimento 5 Stelle (M5S), has returned to Rome, signaling a potential renewed engagement with politics despite recent claims of exhaustion. His presence in the capital includes meetings with former parliamentarians and party officials who remain loyal to him, occurring amidst ongoing tensions regarding the leadership and direction of the M5S under Giuseppe Conte.
Grillo’s recent appearance on the Pulp Podcast with Fedez and Mr. Marra was characterized by combative tones. While some viewed the appearance as a sign of his withdrawal from direct political action, Grillo stated, “I am not finished with politics, I am exhausted by politics.”
During his stay in Rome, Grillo attended a reception celebrating the 77th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China and the installation of the new Chinese ambassador to Italy, Hou Yue, highlighting his long-standing interest in China.
