Argentina adjusts municipal services for July 9 Independence Day holiday

The Argentine national holiday on July 9, celebrating Independence Day, and the bridge holiday on July 10 will see adjustments to public services across several jurisdictions.

In the municipality of Berazategui, waste collection will continue on its usual schedule, while primary health centres remain on 24‑hour guard. Vaccination points stay open round‑the‑clock at selected locations, and emergency ambulance, lighting, water and sewage services will operate normally. The municipal cemetery will be open for visits, and the local waste‑management centre will accept bulky items on both days.

The City of Buenos Aires will keep hospital critical areas and emergency lines active 24 hours, but outpatient clinics, vaccination sites and many government offices, including schools and the civil registry, will remain closed. Garbage collection proceeds as usual, parking meters are suspended, and public transport runs on a holiday timetable with extended subway hours and limited train service. Police, fire and civil defence units stay on guard, and cultural venues such as museums and theatres have varied opening hours.

In La Plata, waste collection is suspended on Thursday (July 9) and resumes normal service on Friday. Measured parking will not be enforced on either day, while public transport follows the holiday schedule. The municipal administration and many offices stay closed, the emergency health service (SAME) operates normally, and the local cemetery remains open for visitors. Markets and parks will follow adjusted opening hours.

The capital district (CABA) mirrors these measures: hospitals keep critical areas active 24 hours, outpatient services and vaccination centres close, schools stay shut, and garbage collection continues. Parking restrictions are relaxed, tolls follow weekend rates, and certain commuter‑train lines are suspended for maintenance. Emergency services and police remain on duty throughout the holiday period.
