Berazategui declares ‘La Carrera de Miguel’ of municipal interest

The Berazategui City Council has declared ‘La Carrera de Miguel’ to be of municipal interest through Ordinance N° 6887. Now in its 22nd edition, the athletic competition serves as a tribute to Miguel Benancio Sánchez, a militant, athlete, and poet who was disappeared by the last civic-military dictatorship on January 8, 1978.

The event is scheduled for October 10 at 3:00 PM, starting at Av. Agote and 359 in Ranelagh. As of this year, the race has been integrated into the annual sports agenda of the Municipality of Berazategui.

Organizers from Secondary School N° 7 ‘Ernesto Che Guevara’ emphasized that the project is rooted in human rights and the importance of memory, truth, and justice, particularly as the country marks 50 years since the coup.
