Beredskab Øst to take over firefighting operations from Falck

Beredskab Øst, a joint municipal emergency service, has decided to take over the management of firefighting personnel currently provided by Falck. The decision covers services in Gladsaxe, Lyngby, Ballerup, and Gentofte.

The move follows a tender process where Falck’s bid was 1.5 million DKK more expensive per year than an external cost assessment for in-house operations. Beredskab Øst expects to implement the transition without increasing overall operating costs. Falck will continue its current operations until the end of 2027.

Jesper Würtzen, chairman of the emergency commission, stated that the decision was based on a holistic assessment of economic, organizational, and operational factors. The commission anticipates that bringing operations in-house will result in a more cohesive organization with shorter decision-making paths, clearer management responsibility, and improved operational quality and robustness.
