Berenika Kohoutová releases single addressing summer camp abuse

Singer Berenika Kohoutová and the group Mutanti hledaj východisko have released a new single titled ‘Chatka č. 25 (Steve je prase)’. The song addresses the sensitive and often overlooked issue of sexual abuse of girls by adult leaders at summer camps.

Kohoutová noted that such power imbalances were often dismissed as ‘summer romances’ in the past, but emphasized that the responsibility always lies with the adult. The release coincides with upcoming legislative changes in the Czech Republic, where a ‘child certificate’ is set to be introduced in 2027. This system aims to strengthen child protection by tracking individuals convicted of serious violent and sexual offenses to prevent them from working in roles involving contact with children.
