Bergamo: 10-year-old boy dies in motorcycle collision with truck

A 10-year-old boy has died following a motorcycle collision with a truck in Bergamo, Italy. The accident occurred on the evening of Monday, August 31, around 9:30 p.m. along provincial road 591 near via Zanica.

The motorcycle, a Ducati 916, was carrying the child and his 52-year-old father when it collided with a heavy vehicle that was reportedly maneuvering while exiting a company premises. Emergency responders provided immediate care at the scene before transporting both occupants to the Papa Giovanni XXIII Hospital in critical condition. The child later succumbed to his injuries at the hospital, while the father remains hospitalized in serious condition.

The driver of the truck, a 50-year-old Italian man, was uninjured but underwent testing for alcohol and drugs. Local police and state authorities are investigating the exact dynamics of the crash, including whether the truck cut off the motorcycle or if there was driver inattention. Investigators are also reviewing local surveillance footage to reconstruct the event.
