Bergamo to receive 685,000 euros in flood insurance compensation
The Municipality of Bergamo is set to receive 685,000 euros in compensation from Revo Insurance following the flood that occurred on September 9, 2024. This amount, combined with 813,776 euros recognized by the Lombardy Region for urgent restoration and safety works, brings the total recovered funds for the municipality to nearly 1.5 million euros.
While the insurance chapter for the municipality nears conclusion, legal challenges continue regarding responsibility for the flood. In one specific case, residents of a condominium on via del Guerino voted against continuing a civil lawsuit, though individual residents may still pursue autonomous actions. The September 2024 event saw exceptional rainfall of approximately 80mm in two hours, causing rivers such as the Morla and Tremana to overflow, leading to significant flooding and mudslides in northern Bergamo.
