Italy hosts widespread scientific outreach events and festivals

Various scientific institutions and cities across Italy are hosting a series of events to promote research and scientific culture, culminating in the European Researchers' Night on September 25, 2026.

In Milan, the ‘Tales – The Art of Life Sciences’ project features thirty scientific images by young researchers displayed on digital totems in metro stations. In Bergamo, the BergamoScienza festival will feature over 200 events focusing on scientific collaboration. Turin is hosting Unight with over 350 free activities, while Trieste will host the ‘Sharper’ event featuring street science and interactive museum exhibits.

Other regional initiatives include the ‘SuperScienceMe’ project at the University of Calabria, a science marathon in Venice led by Ca' Foscari, and the ‘Settimana della Scienza’ organized by Frascati Scienza, which spans 12 Italian cities with a focus on sustainability and the environment. Additionally, the CREA institute will conduct activities in Frascati, Rome, Florence, and Calabria to connect research with topics like food and biodiversity.
