A series of summer festivals are scheduled throughout Germany and Austria in 2026, offering free or low‑cost admission, live music, and local food.
In Zirndorf, Bavaria, the Stadt‑ und Brauereihoffest returns from 24‑26 July with three stages, over 20 hours of performances ranging from jazz to rock, a traditional Fassanstich and a sell‑out Sunday market. The nearby town of Haltern am See will host its 45th Heimatfest from 4‑6 September, featuring multiple stages, a fairground, a children’s flea market and performances by artists such as Olaf Henning.
Austria’s contributions include the Benevit summer fest in Alberschwende, featuring the “D‘Wäldar Tonzmusig” and service‑anniversary awards, and the Windern “Party‑Hotspot” from 24‑26 July with five themed bars, a disco and a traditional beer‑fass opening. In Hohenems, the three‑day Weinfest (23‑25 July) showcases 17 winemakers from Lower Austria, Styria and Burgenland alongside regional cuisine and free bus‑and‑rail transport.
Other German towns add their own programs: the visual‑sound outdoor festival in Dortmund’s Nordstadt (13‑15 August) presents free jazz and experimental music from Europe and the US; the Freiberger Sommernächte at Schloss Freudenstein (29 August) celebrate mining‑band anniversaries; and Windischeschenbach’s Serenadensaison opens 26 July with rock band Coasters drawing more than 200 attendees.
