Bergwacht Füssen manages seven rescue operations in one day

The Bergwacht Füssen mountain rescue service experienced its busiest day of the year this past Saturday, managing seven separate operations. The incidents included a forest fire near Alpsee caused by a lightning strike, which required coordination with the police, fire departments from Schwangau and Pinswang, and the use of Edelweiß helicopters and drones to control the blaze.

In addition to the fire, rescue teams responded to several medical emergencies involving hikers, including a 61-year-old with a sprained ankle on Tegelberg, a person with a knee injury near Rohrkopfhütte, and an exhausted 14-year-old boy on the Gelbe Wand Steig. Several of these rescues required medical helicopters.
