Berišaj sisters win silver in taekwondo at European championships
Montenegrin taekwondo athletes Andrea and Anđela Berišaj secured silver medals at the European University Combat Sports Championships held in Tirana.
Andrea Berišaj competed in the under 67 kg category. After defeating Portugal’s Ariana Ramalho and Turkey’s Ceren Cetinel in the semifinals, she lost the final match to Turkey’s Isil Zafer. Anđela Berišaj earned silver in the over 73 kg category, defeating Great Britain’s Katherine Jane Hambleton and Spain’s Maria Lopez Jimenez before falling to Turkey’s Esre Akbulak in the final.
Other Montenegrin participants included Vasilije Nestorović, who reached the quarterfinals in the under 63 kg category, and karateka Mila Mraković, who reached the quarterfinals in individual kata. Coach Vlado Stanišić praised the senior team's performance, noting the valuable experience gained by competing among the top student representations in Europe.
