Berkeley botanical garden hosts New Orleans-themed wedding

Calyn and Mike held a New Orleans-themed wedding at the University of California Botanical Garden in Berkeley on May 24, 2026. The couple had originally postponed their ceremony after learning they were expecting a child.

The ceremony took place in the garden’s Redwood Amphitheater, surrounded by a grove of redwoods. The event incorporated various traditions, including the breaking of the glass and jumping the broom, alongside a reading from bell hooks. The couple's daughter, born before the wedding, participated in the ceremony.
