Berkshire Hathaway adds Alphabet, Mitsubishi, Marubeni before 13F filing
Berkshire Hathaway will disclose its second‑quarter 2026 holdings to the U.S. SEC on 14 August. Although the formal 13F filing is still weeks away, other regulatory documents reveal that CEO Greg Abel has expanded positions in Alphabet Inc. and three Japanese trading houses – Mitsubishi Corp., Marubeni Corp. and Sumitomo Corp.
Alphabet remains the largest new holding, with roughly 54.2 million Class A shares valued at about $15.6 billion and 3.6 million Class C shares worth around $1 billion. The company’s recent capital raise of up to $84.75 billion for AI data‑center expansion has attracted a $10 billion commitment from Berkshire, split evenly between two private placements. The added stakes in the Japanese firms further diversify the conglomerate’s portfolio under Abel’s leadership.
