Berkshire Hathaway builds nearly 10% stake in Lennar Corporation

Berkshire Hathaway has significantly increased its stake in Lennar Corporation, accumulating nearly a 10% position in the homebuilder. According to recent securities filings, the Omaha-based conglomerate purchased approximately 2.7 million Class A shares over three trading days, bringing its total holding to 23.7 million Class A shares valued at $1.8 billion, in addition to 528,000 Class B shares.

Analysts have characterized the move as a “classic” value play, targeting undervalued assets. This investment comes as Lennar has faced challenges, including a stock price decline of more than 32% over the past year, partly due to rising interest rates affecting mortgage affordability.

Other institutional investors have also adjusted their positions in the Miami-based company. Nykredit A/S established a new position of 58,515 shares during the second quarter, while several other hedge funds and wealth management firms reported increased holdings. Institutional investors and hedge funds currently own approximately 81.1% of Lennar's stock.
