Berkshire Hathaway concentrates 67% of portfolio in five stocks

A recent 13F filing for the first quarter of 2026 shows Berkshire Hathaway’s equity portfolio, valued at about $263 billion, is 67 percent invested in just five companies. Apple leads with roughly $58 billion (22 % of the portfolio) followed by American Express with about $46 billion (17 %). The remaining three holdings are Coca‑Cola (~$30 billion, 12 %), Bank of America (~$25 billion, 10 %) and Chevron (~$17.5 billion, 7 %).

The filing also reveals Berkshire holds roughly $397 billion in cash and short‑term Treasury securities, a buffer larger than its entire equity position. The concentration reflects Warren Buffett’s long‑standing investment philosophy, now overseen by successor Greg Abel, emphasizing deep conviction in a limited set of businesses rather than broad diversification.
