Berkshire Hathaway shifts portfolio with massive Alphabet stake increase

Berkshire Hathaway has significantly reshaped its equity portfolio during the second quarter of 2026 under the leadership of CEO Greg Abel. The conglomerate emerged as a net buyer for the first time in several quarters, deploying approximately $19.8 billion in net stock purchases.

A primary driver of this activity was a massive increase in Alphabet Inc. holdings. Berkshire added roughly $17 billion to its Alphabet position, which now stands as the company's third-largest holding behind Apple and American Express. Reports indicate Warren Buffett likely initiated this position in late 2025.

Other notable moves include a 44% increase in Delta Air Lines shares and a 142% increase in Macy's. Conversely, the firm reduced its stakes in Bank of America, Ally Financial, and Nucor, while completely exiting its position in Constellation Brands. The company also reported strong Q2 results, with operating earnings rising 16% on $102 billion in revenue.
