Berkshire Hathaway successor Greg Abel shifts to net stock purchases

Following the retirement of Warren Buffett as CEO on December 31, Greg Abel has begun actively managing Berkshire Hathaway’s investment portfolio. Recent second-quarter operating results indicate that Abel has ended a 14-quarter streak of net stock sales, shifting toward significant net purchases.

Consolidated cash flow statements show Berkshire purchased $23.47 billion in equity securities compared to $3.69 billion in sales, resulting in approximately $19.8 billion in net purchases. While Alphabet is known to have played a meaningful role in these second-quarter purchases, full details regarding the specific holdings will be revealed following the August 14 deadline for institutional investors to file Form 13F with the Securities and Exchange Commission.
