Berkshire Hathaway triples its Alphabet stake and exits Amazon holdings
In the first quarter of 2026, Berkshire Hathaway, now led by CEO Greg Abel, dramatically reshaped its investment portfolio. The conglomerate increased its holding in Alphabet (Google’s parent) by about 224%, adding roughly 40 million shares and raising the stake to a value of over $23 billion, making Alphabet its seventh‑largest position. At the same time, Berkshire sold its entire position in Amazon, disposing of around 2.2 million shares.
The filing also disclosed sales of other large positions, including UnitedHealth Group, Visa and Mastercard, and reductions in Chevron and Bank of America, while adding new, smaller stakes such as Delta Air Lines and Macy’s. Apple remained unchanged as the firm’s largest holding.
