Berlin apartment investigated for illegal cat breeding

Animal rights organization PETA has reported illegal cat breeding conditions in a Berlin apartment. After discovering an online advertisement for kittens, an activist posing as a buyer entered the residence and documented the conditions.

According to PETA, 22 cats were found living in squalid conditions, including a room with a heavy ammonia smell where the urine had partially dissolved the laminate flooring. The owner reportedly stated she only checks on the animals every two days.

Activists attempted to assist the police in rescuing the cats on the day of the discovery, but the resident barricaded herself inside. The matter has been referred to the relevant veterinary authorities for further action.
