Berlin benefit concert organized to support LGBTQ+ community after CSD attack
A benefit concert titled "Fresse auf für queere Freiheit" (Speak up for queer freedom) will be held at Berlin's Columbiahalle on August 18, 2026, to support the LGBTQ+ community following an attack during a Christopher Street Day (CSD) event.
The concert, organized by rapper Baran Kok, features sixteen musical acts, including Herbert Grönemeyer, Ikkimel, Badmómzjay, and Juju. The event is currently sold out.
Proceeds from the concert will be donated to the Schwulenberatung Berlin and various CSD initiatives in rural East Germany. Specifically, the funds will support assistance for queer children and adolescents, as well as legal counseling for LGBTQ+ refugees.
The memorial event follows a July 25 incident in the Tiergarten area, where a 21-year-old suspect drove into a crowd and used stabbing weapons, resulting in one death and 31 injuries. The suspect was later fatally shot by police in Spandau.
