Berlin celebrates Fête de la Musique and Pop Culture Awards 2026

The independent Pop Culture Award marked its ten‑year anniversary on Sunday in Berlin, presenting winners in eleven categories before the backdrop of the city’s Fête de la Musique. The ceremony took place at the Zeiss‑Großplanetarium with about 400 guests; awardees included Peaches, Nina Chuba, Westbam and newcomer Grenzkontrolle. Organisers highlighted the lack of state funding and stressed reliance on the roughly 500 members of the promoting association.

The Fête de la Musique festival, a one‑day free‑entry event held on the summer solstice, drew thousands of visitors across Berlin. Organisers reported 1,383 concerts on around 300 stages—the highest number ever—covering genres from blues to classical. Festival director Marie von der Heydt noted budget cuts from the state and urged future financial support for the city’s cultural programming.
