Berlin CSD Attack Prompts LSVD Call for Immediate Safety Measures
On 2 August 2026 a terrorist attack targeted the Christopher Street Day (CSD) parade in Berlin. In response, the German Lesbian and Gay Association (LSVD) presented ten concrete measures to improve security for the queer community. LSVD board member Alva Träbert told the Rheinische Post that the proposals include better prevention, queer‑sensitive security concepts and reliable funding for counseling and community structures, and urged the interior committee’s special session to adopt them without delay.
Activist Tadzio Müller, speaking to taz, linked the attack to broader climate‑related societal collapse and argued that queer self‑defence is now essential. He recalled the 2022 murder of a trans man in Münster, noted the emotional impact on a date he was with at the Berlin event, and announced a forthcoming “collapse camp” to practice solidarity‑prepping for climate crises.
